Are you a practical, reliable and community minded Maintenance Officer looking for a flexible casual role where your work makes a genuine difference?
BaptistCare is seeking a hands on Maintenance Officer to support our welcoming retirement living community at The Pines Village in Ellenbrook. This is a casual position for minimum 7.6 hours per week, with flexibility to work the hours across one or more days depending on village needs and your availability. There is also scope to increase to equivalent of two days per week when required depending on tasking.
Set among beautifully maintained gardens, The Pines Village offers relaxed retirement living with resort style amenities, shared community spaces and a strong sense of connection and belonging. The village includes features such as a swimming pool and spa, library, bowling green, community centre, village bus, hairdresser and social spaces for residents to enjoy.
About the role
As Maintenance Officer, you will help keep the village safe, welcoming and well maintained for residents, staff, visitors and contractors. You will carry out general maintenance and repairs across buildings, fixtures, fittings, facilities, gardens and shared spaces in line with the Village Maintenance Plan and BaptistCare procedures.
This is a varied role where no two days will look the same. You may be supporting with tasks such as general repairs, minor painting, lighting maintenance, hanging items, clearing gutters, rubbish disposal, basic plumbing tasks, furniture movement, checking equipment, basic grounds or facility upkeep, and responding to maintenance requests from residents and the Village Manager.
You will play an important part in helping residents feel safe, respected and supported in their home environment, while ensuring maintenance activity is completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption.

About You:
You will be someone who takes pride in practical work, notices what needs attention, and enjoys being part of a friendly village community. You bring a calm, helpful and respectful approach, with the confidence to work independently while also knowing when to escalate maintenance issues or seek support.
You will ideally bring:

Previous experience in maintenance, handyman, property, facilities or trade-related work

A broad range of practical maintenance and repair skills

Strong customer service skills and a respectful approach with older people

Good organisation skills and the ability to prioritise tasks

A safety focused mindset and commitment to WHS practices

The physical capacity to undertake hands on maintenance duties

A current Australian driver’s licence

First Aid, AED or relevant trade qualifications will be highly regarded
