About the Role:

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will partner widely across the enterprise to help define, implement and continually improve BaptistCare’s data governance strategy, frameworks and capability.  You will ensure our data is accurate, secure, accessible and used ethically to support decision‑making, operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

The Data Governance Specialist sits within the Legal, Risk & Governance function and reports to the Head of Data Governance. This is a full time, maximum term role for 12 months, with the possibility of extension and can be based at any of our offices nationally. There is a requirement for occasional travel interstate.

You will:

• Support the development and uplift of our enterprise data governance operating model, policies, standards and business glossary, embedding ownership, stewardship and accountability.
• Champion data stewardship across executive, operational and enabling teams, and  contribute to education and awareness activities that build a positive data culture.
• Advance data quality, integrity and compliance through profiling, monitoring, remediation and governance reviews aligned to privacy and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to governance reporting and dashboards and maintain enterprise‑level metrics to track maturity and outcomes.
• Collaborate across business units to promote consistent, ethical data use and values‑aligned decision making.

About you

You bring a blend of technical depth and collaborative leadership, with:

• A bachelor’s degree in information management, computer science, business or related field.
• Demonstrated experience defining and implementing data governance in complex or regulated environments.
• Strong knowledge of DAMA/DCAM frameworks, data management principles and legislative compliance.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and embed governance through enterprise strategy and delivery.
• Experience with governance tools, policy development, stewardship models and education/awareness programs.
