Maintenance Officer - Byford
- 496913
- Perth Metro, WA, Australia
- Permanent Full-Time
You’re good with your hands, you take pride in your work, and you want a role close to home that actually means something.
Byford is one of Perth’s fastest-growing communities and BaptistCare is right here in it. We’re looking for a hands-on Maintenance Officer to keep our aged care facility running safely and well for the residents who call it home.
This is a varied, full-time role that puts you on the tools every day. Painting, gardens, reactive repairs, preventative maintenance, and everything in between. No two days are the same, and the work you do is noticed and appreciated by the people around you.
WHAT WE OFFER
- $31.38–$33.89 per hour + 12% superannuation.
- NFP salary packaging up to $18,550 per year means more take-home pay on top of your hourly rate.
- Full-time hours with a consistent, predictable roster (no nights).
- Work close to home in your own community.
- Ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Employee Assistance Program: free, confidential wellbeing support.
THE ROLE
You’ll be the go-to maintenance person on site, managing a broad and varied mix of tasks across the facility grounds, buildings, and equipment. Painting and gardening are core parts of this role alongside the usual reactive and preventative maintenance workload.
- Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance across buildings, plant, equipment, furniture, fittings, gardens, lawns, and carparks
- Painting: internal and external is a core and ongoing part of this role
- Maintain gardens and outdoor areas including weeding, pruning, and day-to-day ad hoc tasks
- Log and manage maintenance requests through the CMMS (Maintenance Connection)
- Manage site vehicles and loading dock areas
- Purchase and order equipment in line with organisational policies
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and Site Manager on budget planning and asset management
- Handle resident and staff maintenance-related feedback promptly and professionally
- Ensure all activities comply with WHS legislation and BaptistCare policies
ABOUT YOU
You’re practical, proactive, and take genuine pride in the spaces you maintain. You don’t wait to be told what needs doing, instead you spot it and sort it.
- Hands-on painting experience: residential, commercial, or facility-based. This is the most important skill for this role
- Practical gardening skills: weeding, pruning, and general outdoor upkeep
- General maintenance experience across buildings, equipment, or facilities. Any background considered
- A can-do attitude: you pitch in, you do not wait to be asked, and you take ownership of your work
- Basic computer literacy, enough to log jobs and send an email
- Current driver’s licence
- Fire Safety Officer training (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience in an aged care or healthcare environment (desirable)
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
