About the Role:
As an IT Security Engineer, you will execute security initiatives, projects and BAU activities across BaptistCare’s technology platforms. You will provide technical expertise in security controls, risk mitigation and best‑practice frameworks, while working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners. Your work ensures our systems remain secure, resilient, and compliant with organisational policies and industry standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting and administering IT infrastructure, including servers, networking, cloud platforms and security technologies
- Deploying, configuring and maintaining security controls to proactively manage cyber risks
- Responding to and remediating security incidents and vulnerabilities
- Ensuring infrastructure platforms comply with best‑practice security standards
- Assisting with project delivery, documentation, and change management processes
About the Team:

About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent industry experience of minimum of 5 years
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, OSCP, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus
- Proven experience in the following:
- Cyber security, security tools and controls
- Remediation of security incidents from the managed SOC and vulnerabilities learned through security audits
- Cloud security technologies such as Azure, AWS, GCP
- Implementing security principles such as ASD Essential 8, NIST and CIST
- Strong knowledge of security tools, including firewalls, endpoint protection products, and security information and event management systems
- Demonstrated expertise in endpoint protection technologies such as Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike or similar
- Experience with security incident response and vulnerability management
- Strong scripting and automation skills, with experience in Python, PowerShell, or other scripting languages
- Hands‑on experience with key security technologies (Secure Email Gateways, vulnerability scanning, Palo Alto firewalls, Tenable Security Centre, phishing simulation, application whitelisting, MFA) and strong remediation experience
- Skilled in Microsoft and cloud environments including AAD/ADFS, Office 365, Active Directory, Azure, cloud connectivity, PowerShell and Group Policy
- Ability to identify and implement controls from penetration testing, health checks and vulnerability assessments, including coordinating regular testing and remediation
- Experienced in evaluating security tools, managing incidents end‑to‑end, and contributing to organisational projects while following best‑practice change management.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences and collaborate effectively with IT teams
Desirable experience includes:
- Not for Profit, Aged care, health or community services experience
- Exposure to VMware, Citrix, SAN, SCCM, Intune or emerging Microsoft technologies
- Experience with Cisco or Aruba networking devices
