About the Role:

The purpose of this very rewarding role is to provide counselling, support and specialist group programmes to individuals, couples, children, and families through collaborative practices that are;

  • Trauma informed
  • Human Rights Based
  • Inclusive and Invitational
  • Evidence Based

Supporting clients from all walks of life to overcome difficulties, build resilience, to enhance their quality of life and relationships. Being skilled in working with families experiencing domestic violence with the willingness to work with people who have experienced and those who use violence as this is a high percentage of our core business.

About You:

You will be an experienced counsellor who has a genuine passion for working within the community.  The successful applicant will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant human services (e.g. Psychology, Counselling) or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Clinical membership of relevant professional body (e.g. PACFA - Psychotherapy and Counsellors Association of Australia)
  • Demonstrated experience & skills in counselling and group work
  • Experience in providing counselling in an agency setting
  • Demonstrated experience & skills in individual and group settings with those experiencing and/or perpetrating Domestic Violence (leading DV programs or groups)
  • Experience in trauma informed practice
  • Demonstrated experience relating to diverse groups, e.g. Government departments & other agencies
  • Demonstrated understanding of inclusive, respectful practice when working with First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, LGBTIA+ and people with disabilities
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of BaptistCare’s Christian identity and promote the organisation’s values through interactions at work
  • Willing to undergo a Police Check and have a Working with Children Check

Desirables:

  • Training and experience working with men and women in a DFV context
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Specialised skills/training in Family therapy
  • Current drivers licence
