Your Role

As the Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing high-level clinical support and assessment for residents while also providing clinical leadership, support, and mentoring for Registered Nurses in an aged care setting. You will use your clinical expertise, leadership, and clear communication skills to assist with the provision of high-quality clinical care. With a strong understanding of quality clinical care, you will model clinical excellence, inspire, and educate other care professionals to promote continual improvement of clinical care in an aged care setting. This role offers the opportunity to specialise in a clinical area such as palliative and dementia care while also providing a high level of general clinical expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside Care Team Managers to identify residents requiring a clinical review.
  • Undertake clinical reviews of residents in consultation with the resident and their representative, making recommendations for clinical care.
  • Develop care plans in consultation with the clinical team and resident.
  • Provide support to the clinical team to implement care plans, including education, training, mentoring, and clinical skills assessments.
  • Provide clinical support for unplanned incidents such as resident falls and sudden clinical deterioration.
  • Lead improvement in team knowledge and skill application in your area of specialisation.
  • Promote best practices to support employees in providing the highest quality of care for residents.
  • Ensure clinical documentation that supports funding is completed as required.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, identify trends in clinical care, and develop solutions and improvements.
  • Promote safe care to residents, minimising risk and continually monitoring and improving health outcomes.
  • Support investigation of and response to complaints raised of a clinical nature.
  • Ensure your professional practice is up to date and current by engaging in ongoing professional development and complying with statutory regulations and relevant legislation.

Key Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse with post-registration qualification relevant to aged care.
  • At least 12 months of experience working in the clinical area of the qualification or in aged care.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and understanding of adult learning principles.
  • Knowledge of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Standards.
  • Understanding and appreciation of BaptistCare’s Christian identity and promotion of the organisation’s values through interactions at work.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • Clinical leadership in an aged care setting.
  • Three or more years' experience in Aged Care.
