Model Christian leadership and lead a team of Chaplains and Spiritual Care Coordinators who provide effective, person-centred, spiritual care based on Christian faith and values to clients, residents, inmates, patients and their families, staff and volunteers, irrespective of cultural background, gender, sexuality, denomination, faith tradition or beliefs.

About the Team:

The Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care team delivers holistic spiritual, emotional, and relational support across BaptistCare. Operating nationally, we partner with churches and faith-based communities to foster wellbeing and ensure chaplaincy and pastoral care are central to our services. While we approach our work from a Christian perspective, our Chaplains are committed to supporting the spiritual wellbeing of everyone within BaptistCare, regardless of their faith or non-faith background.

About the Role:

As Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care Manager, you will:

  • Lead and inspire a team of chaplains, fostering best practice spiritual care for clients, residents, families, staff, and volunteers.
  • Model Christian leadership and integrate faith-based values into organisational culture, strategy, and daily practice.
  • Champion spiritual wellbeing across BaptistCare, ensuring chaplaincy and pastoral care remain embedded within service delivery.
  • Build partnerships with churches, faith-based communities, and sector networks to strengthen our services.
  • Support and develop chaplains and pastoral care volunteers, guiding their professional growth and ministry.
  • Drive innovation in spiritual care models, contributing to national strategy and sector leadership.
  • Uphold compliance and quality, ensuring services meet all relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel across sites to meet with staff and visit sites.
  • Oversee an interstate team based in SA or TAS.

About You:

  • Theological Bachelors (inclusive of Pastoral Care subjects) OR Pastoral Care Bachelors (inclusive of Theological subjects)
  • At least five years’ postgraduate experience in pastoral ministry and/or chaplaincy
  • Experience working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Proven management and leadership skills, with experience leading teams preferably in a faith-based setting
  • Understanding of spiritual and pastoral needs, with an ability to inspire and provide pastoral and administrative leadership to a diverse team of chaplains
  • Ability to demonstrate a personal and authentic Christian faith, with a high level of spiritual maturity, along with a pastoral heart
  • Be capable and willing to lead Christian prayers, devotions, rites and rituals in a manner that reflects BaptistCare’s Christian identity
  • A personal commitment to growth in the Christian faith, and an ability to inspire and encourage others to grow in their faith and follow the example of Jesus
  • Ability to work with and a commitment to respect people from different faiths and backgrounds
  • Capacity to integrate Christian theology and Biblical teaching into leadership contexts in a sensitive and appropriate manner
  • Demonstrated ability to model Christian values and beliefs in challenging or complex situations
  • Commitment to work within BaptistCare’s Policies and Procedures
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software
  • A current ‘Working with Children Check’
  • A valid driver’s licence
