        • Fast-paced, friendly and energetic team with great culture
        • Drive PR and media campaigns that will change lives and attitudes
        • Share stories about the people, issues and communities BaptistCare supports

At BaptistCare, people are at the heart of everything we do. As our new Media & Advocacy Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping conversations that matter, from aged care reform to community housing, domestic and family violence, volunteering, and more. Working nationally across NSW, ACT, WA, SA, VIC and TAS, you’ll partner with our Media, Communications and Advocacy teams, as well as senior leaders to craft campaigns, build media impact, and help influence public debate and policy, ensuring the voices of our customers and communities are heard where they matter most.

        About the role:

This isn’t your standard comms gig. This is national advocacy and media with purpose.

As our Media & Advocacy Specialist, you’ll support, build and protect the reputation of BaptistCare while helping to advance our advocacy agenda. You’ll work closely with the Media & PR Manager, the Head of Media & Communications, and the Advocacy team to activate PR, media, and advocacy strategies across the country.

One day you might be writing a media release on aged care funding reform, the next you’ll be packaging up stories of women experiencing domestic and family violence, or pitching a thought leadership piece on the future of housing affordability. You’ll be shaping narratives that matter, creating campaigns that influence decision-makers, and helping ensure the voices of our customers and staff are heard where it counts.

You’ll contribute to media and public affairs opportunities, draft campaign messaging and briefing notes, and support senior leaders in their advocacy work with government and sector partners. You’ll also play a role in supporting local teams to grab hyper-local advocacy opportunities, ensuring their voices are amplified through smart communication and media strategies.

You’ll be at your best when it’s busy, juggling priorities, and driving conversations that lead to change. And yes, like all PR, you’ll sometimes take those after-hours calls, but you’ll be backed by a supportive team that works hard and laughs harder.

This is a maximum term, for up to 12 months, part (4 days/wk) national role, working across NSW, ACT, WA, SA, VIC and TAS. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a friendly, purpose-driven team making a difference every day. Some travel may be required.

We are also recruiting a three-day week Media & PR Specialist. Either role might be great for you.
