Our new 130-bed Griffith Centre in Canberra is conveniently located near the CBD, Lake Burley Griffin, shopping precincts, and local parks. This energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable building has been designed to meet the care needs of the local community now and into the future. BaptistCare Griffith is an innovative and modern facility, built to cater to people with low care, high care, and dementia care needs. All our rooms feature ensuites, and the facility also offers extra services.

About the Role

BaptistCare Griffith Centre is looking for a Cook (Unsupervised) to join our dedicated kitchen team. You will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of food and service to our valued residents, from the preparation of quality ingredients to the delivery of wholesome cooked meals. Cooking to a rotating menu, you will prepare meals including breakfasts, lunch, and dinner. Therefore, availability to work AM and PM shifts is essential.

This position is full-time, including weekends, with an hourly rate of $31.79 plus additional weekend penalties.

 

Duties May Include:

  • Enabling residents to live well by delivering tasteful, well-presented, nutritious meals
  • Creating, supervising, and preparing menus
  • Supervising to ensure correct procedures and kitchen practices meet BaptistCare HACCP Food Safety Plan standards

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working in a busy commercial kitchen
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety Guidelines (HACCP)
  • An understanding of IDDSSI and texture-modified foods is an advantage
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery/Hospitality
