About BaptistCare Maranoa Centre

Located in the picturesque township of Alstonville, Maranoa Centre sits on truly magnificent grounds. Our lush rainforest patch has over 30 species of established rainforest trees, including a Moreton Bay Fig tree where many people love to rest and read.

Maranoa Centre provides 90 beds for residents across all levels of care, including dementia care and respite care services.

 

About the role

As the Recreational Activities Officer, you will drive the engagement and participation of residents into a range of social, recreational and cultural activities, as well as mental health and wellbeing programs that empower our resident’s choices and independence. In running recreational activity programs, you will ensure individual residents’ needs, values, spiritual and cultural preferences are taken into account.

There are two permanent part time vacancies:

  • 42 hours per fortnight: Week 1 Monday & Tuesday. Week 2 Monday & Wednesday-Friday 10am-5.30pm
  • 28 hours per fortnight: Thursday & Friday 10am-5.30pm & Saturday & Sunday 9.45am-5.15pm (and additional leave cover as required)

Skills and experience

  • You have completed Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle (or willing to complete)
  • Previous experience working with people living with Dementia (highly desired)
  • You hold a current NSW/ACT Drivers License and will be able to take clients on outings
  • Senior First Aid Certificate is essential
  • You have previous experience in caring for the elderly within an Aged or Community Care setting
  • You have highly developed organisation and time management skills
  • You have an understanding of Resident Rights and the Aged Care Accreditation Standards
